About

Approach

Skill Builders Club is a social skills club, where club members take part in a social skill group that combines LEGO®-Based Therapy, Applied Behavior Analysis, and Socioemotional Learning. It is a social skills program based around building LEGO® models collaboratively in groups.  The goal of the group is to assist club members as they grow their social interaction skills in a fun and motivating setting.  Skill Builders Club is unique in the way that it blends LEGO®-Based Therapy and Applied Behavior Analysis with a project-oriented focus on building socioemotional skills.  Skill Builders Club provides facilitators with a low-planning time, highly effective program to build social skills amongst all students.

About

What is Skill Builders Club?

Concept

Skill Builders Club meetings are usually 45 minutes to one-hour long. In the session club members create LEGO® models in groups of 2 or 3, with an adult facilitator. Each meeting, club members take on serving different roles within the group. One student finds the bricks (the ‘supplier’), another has the instructions (the ‘engineer’) and a third club member puts the model together (the ‘builder’).

Tools and instructions for data collection, reinforcement systems, and aligned IEP goals are provided so facilitators can easily implement club meetings to assist club members in meeting their goals.
